Small Upholstered Chair
A slipper chair is one type of a small upholstered chair.
Distinguished by it's low seating and high back, it is a convenient piece for additional seating and for accenting
any decor. They can also serve a very practical purpose in a bedroom because of being a lower setting. These chairs
provide a place for dressing, especially making it easier to remove and put on shoes. These will fit in nicely with
most decors because of the clean lines and heavy padding. They are available in almost any upholstery patterns or
colors. Also, there are many covers that are designed specifically for slipper chairs so flexibility is virtually
limitless. Since they usually have no arms, they will take up a little less space overall. Many times the backs
will recline for added comfort.
They also can be placed in an entryway so shoes can be removed
before entering your home. Because they are smaller chairs, they are most comfortable when seating one person. They
are lighter pieces so they can be moved for social gatherings and conversations. If floor space permits,
adding a low coffee or end table can add even more appeal. Know that the frames may be made of woods or metals.
Some will be totally covered so the frame will not present any concern when matching existing
furniture.
Another small chair to consider is the occasional, or accent
chair. These are usually wooden frames with upholstered seating. You may wish to purchase a better constructed
occasional chair because they are smaller and not really built to carry a heavier load. You want to seek out ones
with solid joints, so there are fewer nails or other fasteners to weaken over time. When you hold the chair from
the back and apply a gentle twisting motion, you should feel little, if any, movement. Most occasional chairs are
of a early design style like Early American or French (and other European countries.) Because their popularity is
increasing, more designs are coming to market, so finding one to fit your decor should be a probable
proposition.
Fantasy Furniture makes a complete line of children's
furniture. Generally bright colors and durable, easy to clean fabrics will be a feature of these children's lines.
There will also be frames made of woods, metals or a combination of the two. The choices in children's furniture
will certainly include the same as the other furniture in your home including rockers, gliders, sofas, ottomans and
rolling furniture. One very colorful small chair is their "Bubble Rocking Chair." With 2" of foam filling in the
seat and 1" in the back and arms, the wood frame, with the rocker base, will provide years of joy and comfort for
any child.
A small upholstered chair can be added individually or
purchased as a part of a group setting. Dining rooms might benefit if space is a premium. Accent chairs in hallways
or entryways can tastefully fill empty spaces as is the same in most every room. Woods and fabrics in these chairs
make for almost any combination. This fact will make it possible to find the right one for your
home.
